32nd Birthday

July 29th, 2006 by guiaxjon2005

I’ll tell you about my simple birthday celebration last July 27th.Hard to accept but I’m already 32..huhu! I’m happy because I’ve reached this age with good health, contented, loved and I can say that I’ve done something with those years in my life. It’s not really wasted at all coz I’ve enjoyed living with it and been to many places that I never expected to see…now that I’ve seen some…naadik na nuon..will want to see more! hehe! Who knows under d aparador ug ma kumpleto diay na nako ang wonders of the world…mao nay pinaka ambisyon nako.Well there’s no harm in dreaming higher as long as you’re doing it right to reach your goal,di ba?
I started my day being lazy and stayed in bed till noon..hehe!hubby declared that no chores today coz it’s kitty’s day(his endearment to me ug mag ayo ang otok ug magsipok kay ibundak lang..mabaw tawn kog sapopo sa akong bisdak na name.hehe).So
after I took a shower we had lunch then sat on each other’s pc.I chatted with my sisters online and of course viewing photos and reading blogs in friendster. At 6:00pm,we went out and had a yummy rib barbeque in one of the bars here with margarita to go with it.Aw,margarita diay una uy!naunswa bah! hehe! I was shocked to see the whole glass of it..I thought that it’s just a small glass like the usual glasses I’ve seen in other bars but in this one it’s a whole pint jud..as in makahubog!panghubog jud tirada nila…since I’m a novice with drinking alcohol I sip and sip till my heart’s delight without knowing na hubog na diay si manding…hehe! I felt like I was floating and tipsy.I managed to finish my share of our order of succulent barbequed pork ribs. The burp was great! hehe! After that we went to see a movie "Superman Returns".It was a good movie and I enjoyed it.My birthday ended with slices of New York cheesecake, slices lang kay kami raman duha mokaon. It was a simple celebration but a memorable one.The gifts were given in advance when I was still in Cali..nag una pa.Thanks guys for remembering my birthday.Dili jud ka mahay ang kalendaryo sa pagpatid nako kay it’s worth it.h
ehe!

Welcome to Pittsburgh,my new home!

July 26th, 2006 by guiaxjon2005

Hello! I would like to share my sad and happy moments these days.Sad because I’m leaving California, the home I’ve known away from home.I’m also happy because hubby and I will be living now in Pittsburgh,Pennsylvania for the 3 years of his law school and maybe more and stay here for good. For sure I will miss my dear and treasured friends in Cali like Ate Cynthia,Mae,Kathy,Tintin,Lea, Ate Susan and others whom we shared happy moments with. They are my Filipino family here in America who gave me the all-out support with whatever decision I made whether in work, kaon to the max ,laag and just having fun.I may find friends here but they can’t beat the kindness and warmth they made me feel there.Thank you guys! You are always in my heart and will always keep in touch. You’re more than welcome to pay us a visit here.
Pittsburgh,PA is an exciting, quite and interesting city tho I haven’t explored all of  it yet but I can feel the hominess that we’re looking for our new home. We’re renting a pretty little house in a quite neighborhood with wonderful neighbors. It’s a new experience for me to be on our own because last year we were living with my in-laws tho we have our own floor but we’re a part of their big house. Now,it’s ours in everything including paying all the bills.hu-hu-hu-hu! It will be a challenging adventure to be on our own but happy with it.It’s exhausting but fun to decorate and place things as you want them to be.At last for now the place is quite as it should be with just some more finishing touches then we’re done and happy with the labor we’ve exerted for days now. It’s tiring but rewarding to see changes everyday. We love to have dinner in the deck where we can see the trees and hear the chirping of the birds while we’re munching our food and recall the day’s events. It’s a simple life but it’s so fulfilling

Arizona Trip 2006

July 21st, 2006 by guiaxjon2005

Welcome back for me here! It’s been so long that I’ve blogged. Now,I’m going to share to you my Grand Canyon trip the other week.I visited my friends Liza and her hubby Richard in Phoenix,Arizona. It was honey’s pre-birthday gift to me.Despite the scorching heat of Arizona, the trip to the Grand Canyon was so wonderful eventhough it was a 6 hour drive from Phoenix.Along the way,we stopped by at some historical mining towns which were rich towns decades ago due to it’s mining business but now they call them ghosts towns coz no more mining going on.I enjoyed the view of the dessert with the gigantic cactus of different varieties growing around.Of course,I took some pictures to prove it.hehe!I can’t get enough of the majestic view of the grand canyon. It’s one of the true wonders of the world which proves that nature can do it’s magic in it’s unspeakable ways.I tried to capture it’s splendor but I don’t think I did but in my mind it was a great memory to remember for a lifetime. For now, my pictures remind me how wonderful and such a pleasure to be able to see it for real than looking at it in a page of a book or in a poster.I never think back then that i’ll be able to see for real such wondrous places but you can’t really tell.I think it’s just a start…hehehe! An addiction that I’m willing and more than glad to indulge in.Won’t you too? I bet!

Pittsburgh visit

June 11th, 2006 by guiaxjon2005

Hello again! Pls read first my Oregon visit before this..hehe!(magbuot jud ko no!)Bitaw uy,pakyaw man gud ni nga pagka blog gud kay tapulan man si manang!
Last Friday, we flew here in Pittsburgh,Pennsylvania to check out honey’s law school, the University of Pittsburgh, explore the city and find a place to rent in the next 3 years that he’ll be in law school. He got accepted in some schools all over the US but he liked Pittsburgh most and decided that this will be it.We got here in the afternoon, checked in and had a brief view of the city before we went to sleep. The following day we had a tour in the university. The University of Pittsburgh is located in the city..it’s buildings are scattered around. It’s very interesting coz some of it’s structures have unique architectural designs.I’m amazed how they  were done. The most unique of them all is their cathedral of learning. It really looked like a cathedral with 39 floors(i think).we were in the 38th floor and were able to see the view of the city. It’s really cool coz the ceilings were so high and intricately carved. It took 11 years to build it.They held some classes there, libraries and study halls(tons of it!)
The next few days were spent house hunting by foot.Wheww!!! akong bagtak kay super jumbo size najud tawn! We went to some of the different neighborhoods here and saw some apartments and duplexes but honey didn’t like them coz he doesn’t like to be bothered in the future by some unruly neighbors. Our considerations in looking for a place is the quiet, cost and accessibility of things to do.So with that in mind we searched more places and on the second day of looking we were lucky to see a cute and beautiful house in a quiet neighborhood with an affordable rent and with easy bus access to school and shops. It’s perfect! When we saw the house we felt like it embraced and welcomed us.It may sound silly but it has a very homey appeal to us.With no further fuss,we signed the lease and was happy to find a perfect home for us in the next three years to come.
Yesterday,we went to the Carnegie Museum and had lots of fun there,It’s a new experience for me(kay wala man na sa among bukid ug kadagatan gud!)The city itself is very interesting full of historical places to visit and explore. We’ll surely do that once were settled here by mid July. The people here are diversed too somewhat like in Berkeley. It’s very clean and green. So far so good.A nice change for us.

the visit to Oregon

June 11th, 2006 by guiaxjon2005

Hello people! It’s time for me to share the events that kept me busy ginagmay.Three weeks ago my best friend from college,Marifi came over from Germany to visit me.Actually, her husband is assigned in Texas for a few months so he let her flew to California for two weeks to visit me.In the first week, she went with us in Salem,Oregon to check out honey’s prospect law school(Willamette University). We drove there for 9 hours and enjoyed it because the view on the way was spectacular with all the trees lined up by the side of the mountain slopes, the mountains were amazing as some of them were still covered with snow. The lakes were great! We stopped at Lake Shasta to stretch our legs and had lunch.Guess what’s our "baon"?They were fried dried fish, "adobong" chicken feet and bangus.Honey was teasing us coz we were fully packed with food.He said "when you have a Filipina wife, you’ll never starve"hehe! I think it’s true coz for me it’s always nice to cook and have extra food ready for later.
We arrived in Salem at 8:30 in the evening and were surprised to know that almost all of the restaurants there were closed. It’s kind of wierd thinking that it’s the capital of Oregon and it’s along the university belt.We were lucky to order a take out in the Chinese restaurant. So we ate and went to sleep since all of us were tired after the long hours of sitting.
We spent our next few days there visiting Willamette University and checking out the town.We went to their capitol building and were given the chance to sit in the governor’s chair and took lots of pictures.hehe! Salem is so clean and green and the people were so nice and calm compared to Cali people that’s always in a hurry.(murag gihulmigasan)hehe! The school is neat too but there’s something in the whole place that it didn’t seem right.I mean I didn’t have the vibes for it to be my home in the next three years that hubby will be in law school there so when he asked me what I thought about the place and I told him that and was surprised to know that he felt the same way too.
After two days, we drove down to Jacksonville,Oregon to visit CJ and John…hubby’s dear friends as they were his best friend Bill’s parents. We had more fun coz they’re a charming couple with a hyper puppy,Daisy. They live in a lovely home in the outskirt of a historical town.I felt like I’m in an old movie.hehehe! It’s so charming coz the people there preserved the old buildings and you can’t see any modern building in that area. The modern ones were farther from it.We enjoyed our stay there coz our hosts were so accommodating and fun to talk to.It was a nice visit despite the fact that honey got a speeding ticket on the way back to Cali but nevertheless it was a good memory.(the trip, not the ticket)hehe!

my Canada adventure

March 10th, 2006 by guiaxjon2005

hello peeps! I am here again to share my Canada trip…I flew there last Feb 22nd..it was so nice to be travelling again after 7 months…I arrived there at 1am and kuya Guy,Villa and Jeb met me there…At_d_airport_wid_jeb
as always pa picture dayon with Jeb…

It was my first time seeing snow for real so when I got out of the airport I was really thumping my feet on them and laughed of joy and amusement..Jeb played with me until kuya told us to stop coz we’re going home. It’s so nice to be with them again after more than a year since they migrated to Canada…Jeb has grown a lot(more sipat na pud)Cool_jeb
and he’s been my picture2 buddy!maoy tig take nakog pix coz we’re left alone most of the time.We either play in the snowPlaying_with_jeb
or go mallingMalling_with_jeb Zellers_me
..Zellers_jeb
I attended the Boholano Association of Edmonton party. It was so much fun…it seemed like I was back in the Philippines(remembered my disco days back home)Party_1 super ka daghan ni discoBoholano_association_in_edmonton_1
then walay kimeParty3
..disco to the maxParty2
..sayaw pag otso2 ang mga gahi ug hawakParty4
..hehe!

We went to West Edmonton mall..it is said that it’s one of the biggest mall in the world…I agree to it coz in this mall there’s a beach,View_of_d_beach
ski rink Bump_cars_n_d_waterBy_d_rink_of_d_mall_1
and other family attractions aside from being a shopping mall…so huge and fun to walk around..kwarta ray kuwang!haha!

We also tried sliding in the snow..it was so much fun and enjoyed it a lot! We were a pain to Jeb coz we wanted to slide all the time and he also wanted the same so it took us more effort to convinced him to have our turn.hehe! We went to the Muttart Conservatory…on the outside it looked like 4pyramids and inside of each was interesting. Each pyramid had its own set of plants grown and maintained. When we went to the pyramid with tropical plants,it was just like being brought back to the Phils…you can see most of our plants and grasses there.I like most is the pyramid filled with flowers. It’s like in heaven as I adore them.
We also went to the mall again and this time we went swimming! We had a great time too…tried most of the water rides and got sore throat afterwards from shouting and bruised my elbows coz I unconsciously used them as my brake everytime I am on the slide.whewww!scary yet so much fun and refreshing..haha! My stay in Canada was so memorable and unforgettable…too good for a  first timer..I liked the place(so spacious and less traffic),the Filipinos are so friendly and accommodating(almost everyday naay manginvite ug dinner)..I felt so at home!To you guys I thank you very much and will see you again hopefully by the summer next year.I am looking forward to see your flowers bloom and for more summer activities to do,can’t wait!hehe! I’ll post more pictures next month since I’ve gone beyond my limit for this month. Thanks for reading guys and am always reading your blogs too!Take care!

Akong Unang Pasko sa Amerika(2005)

December 30th, 2005 by guiaxjon2005

It’s 2:00 am and here I am still awake coz honey decided to clean the sala coz he just realized that he’s been so messy with his things scattered around and he can’t wait to do it in the morning..so here I am sitting on my desk browsing the net and looking at the pictures at friendster and reading some blogs since i can’t help him coz he knows best which to put where…he can do better without me..better not mess with the boss..hehe!since I can’t sleep yet coz he will be calling me from time to time, I decided to write my much delayed christmas blog…better late than never!
Christmas in America is a different experience for me after spending many christmases in the Philippines…I miss the carolers, the firecrackers, midnight mass, exchange of gifts and the partying till dawn.Anyway my first Christmas here wasn’t that bad for a first timer here coz I got more gifts…hehe!there in the Philippines it’s me who will be giving and giving but here it’s really giving and receiving…isn’t it fair enough?hahaha! well as we always say it’s better to give than to receive but now I realized that it’s also better to receive as we give..hahaha!amaw jud ko uy!
Before December started I already bought my little tree to have a christmas spirit in our little home…Img_2451

Long before christmas day honey gave me my presents…Img_2368

Img_2500
electric sewing machine and a specially made red gold necklace of my name with a cute diamond that accented the dot of my name. They’re very lovely and useful presents. In case I’ll get an amnesia i will be known because of my necklace..just have to wear it all the time..and my sewing machine I can make anything with it whenever I feel like it.I have to remember all the sewing tips from my practical arts teacher back in high school days.So far I did some hemming of my denim pants..so it saved me from paying others.I’m looking forward to make more things like curtains and such with my sewing machine.
On Christmas day at 10:00 am we went downstairs to open our gifts. His family gave me a beautiful necklace made of jade with a gold dragon engraving in it.It was beautiful and they say it’s for good luck and hope that it’s true since I need all the luck for the coming year..hehe
Honey got a gift certificate from REI coz he’s been dying to get a new winter hiking jacket.Abdul got a photo printer and a cannon camera from mom.We gave him some cd’s with his favorite songs of Eric Clapton.I gave mom a scarf and for Ishi a coin purse and a kitty pair of socks. All were happy to get presents from each other.
At night we went to ate Cynthia’s place for the party.I bought gifts for the girls and they also got gifts for me.I was surprised and pleased…hehehe!I made bam-i for everybody to share kay mao raman madali ug luto…ate Cynthia did most of the preparation as always!basta kaon gani kay kami na na!She bought rellenong bangus at Goldilocks..so tasty..honey loved it!We had a feast courtesy of the Cox family…it was fun coz all the honeys of the girls were there and met them at last…the most exciting part was the giving of gifts…Leah as always is the "clown" girl…she brought out the laughter of everybody in her natural way…Img_2656

she’s showing off some of her comical skit..hehehe!

After the feast and the gift giving, our finale was the picture taking…as always it was such a goofy experience with d gang..all were picture crazy and now we’re with d boys too!
Too bad friendster won’t let me download more pics here…pls just look at the pics in my pasko2005 album…till then guys coz it seems that honey is done with his dawn cleaning..murag nag aurora kay kadlawn jud niya gihimo..paila lang sa katang-an..hehe!

Fingerprinting day

November 9th, 2005 by guiaxjon2005

It’s November 9,2005.At 11:00 am today I was scheduled for my fingerprinting and biometrics at the INS,Oakland. We went there an hour earlier but we were lost so we walked blocks but eventually we figured out the right place. It’s good to have an extra time before the exact sked so we can still have time to spare for unpredictable circumstances.I got in 5 minutes before 11:00 then was given a form and a priority number.Mine was 109.THe office was packed with different kinds of people of different race, young and old alike having appointments like mine.Honey went out coz he can’t stand the noise and he doesn’t like to be in a crowd.I waited an hour for my number to be called and my form, appointment letter and i.d. were checked then was asked to go back to my seat and wait for my number to be called again for the next step.Another hour after I was called was told to proceed upstairs to be fingerprinted and photographed.I was done at 2pm and was starving already.Glad to be out and done it with.

The rest of the afternoon was spent at home taking pictures of myself as always..hehehe!

First Halloween Experience…

November 1st, 2005 by guiaxjon2005

Halloween is such an exciting event that I’ve observed here in the USA.Most people were up to it and dressed the part of being somebody except me coz I’m just an observer this time..;-)  The decors in the houses amazed me so much and also with the costume of the kids and adults alike..they took much time in picking and deciding which one is for them this year. It’s a good way to remember October as it goes…
here are some pics that I took last night..a remembrance of halloween…
